Overview
401 East 51st Street, known as The Beekman, is a 29-story luxury condominium building rising 358 feet at the northeast corner of First Avenue and East 51st Street in Turtle Bay, Manhattan. Designed by Selldorf Architects, the building features a handcrafted terracotta curtainwall system fabricated in Italy. The podium is clad in 1,500 sculptural 3D-pressed terracotta panels, while the tower above features flat terracotta panels with floor-to-ceiling windows. Grey extruded aluminum fins trim each window, matching the building coping. The residences range from studio to three-bedroom layouts and include two full-floor penthouses, along with a three-story townhouse on East 51st Street clad in granite with its own private garage. Amenities include a fitness center, residents’ lounge, coworking lounge, outdoor terrace, and roof terrace. The building also includes 3,465 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
