Morris Adjmi-Designed 363 Lafayette Street Tops Out, East Village, Manhattan

Construction of the ten-story-tall office building at 363 Lafayette Street has topped out, with façade installation and interior work remaining. Today, we have images of the progress by Tectonic, revealing the concrete frame. YIMBY’s last report on the site revealed a redesign pushed by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, removing double-height sectioning from the original plans, and increasing the visibility of the black crossbeams, which simplified the façade.

The architectural firm behind the structure is Morris Adjmi Architects, who is responsible for a few other projects coming up in the area, including 419 Broadway, 110 East 16th Street, and 540 Hudson Street. It does not appear that construction has begun on the planned single-story retail space that runs along Lafayette Street, so façade installation may be a month or two away.

363 Lafayette stands 127 feet, yielding 33,650 square feet, with 27,750 square feet for commercial use, and another 5,900 square feet will be for an unspecified community facility, occupying portions of floors one, two, and three. Ironstate Development is responsible for the project alongside construction management firm, CM & Associates.
